Description
This discussion series will explore the multitude of influences that shape us as individuals, and as a nation, with titles that challenge our understanding of what it means to be compassionate in today's increasingly diverse world. Join us for the final discussion "Sing, Unburied, Sing" by Jesmyn Ward The story of a family on a journey through rural Mississippi, Sing, Unburied, Sing is an intimate portrait of three generations of a family and an epic tale of hope and struggle. Discussion leader: Maura MacNeil. Maura MacNeil is the author of the poetry collections A History of Water and Lost Houses. She is a presenter with the New Hampshire Humanities to Go program with the interactive workshop titled “Family, Memory, Place: Writing Family Stories.” She currently serves as a board member with the Monadnock Writers’ Group and is a professor of creative writing at New England College in Henniker.
