About Us

Non-Profit social service organization that strenghtens communities by building relationships that empower people, encourage community serivce and restores faith in the human spirit. Sponsors the Junior Senior friends youth mentoring program and the Foster Grandparent program in Belknap County/ Junior Senior Friends Building Relationships. A youth mentoring program matching volunteers (Senior Friends) with youth (Junior Friends) in a one-to-one relationship that creates positive opportunities for youth. Senior Friends are mentors to children, creating relationships built on trust. Volunteers strive to: Listen and understand. Set a positive example. Create trust through unconditional friendship, dependability and consistency. Introduce new opportunities and ideas. Have fun. Older adults of moderate income earn a tax-free stipend for serving in schools and child care centers to help children succeed. Both generations benefit from meaningful new relationships while the children receive emotional and academic support, all resulting in positive changes such as these: Behavioral improvements.
